Skills Manager/Events Centre Manager

£36,000 - £40,000 per year depending on experience

The Skills Manager / Events Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, development, and promotion of a skills and events centre. The role combines operational management, programme coordination, stakeholder engagement, and event delivery to ensure the centre operates efficiently, meets its objectives, and delivers high-quality learning and event experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Centre & Operations Management.

  • Manage the daily operations of the skills and events centre, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and professional environment.

  • Oversee room bookings, schedules, equipment, and facilities maintenance.

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and organisational policies.

  • Manage budgets, monitor expenditure, and contribute to financial planning.


Skills & Programme Management

  • Develop,  coordinate, and deliver skills programmes, workshops, and training  sessions aligned with organisational and community needs.

  • Work with trainers, facilitators, and partners to design and deliver relevant learning opportunities.

  • Monitor participation, outcomes, and impact of skills programmes.

  • Collect feedback and use data to improve future provision.


Events Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver a range of events (e.g. conferences, community events, workshops, corporate bookings).

  • Act as the main point of contact for event clients and partners.

  • Oversee event logistics including staffing, set-up, equipment, catering, and post-event evaluations.

  • Stakeholder & Partnership Engagement.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, training providers, community organisations, and other stakeholders.

  • Promote the centre and its services to attract users, partners, and event bookings.

  • Represent the centre at meetings, networking events, and forums.


Team & Resource Management

  • Line manage centre staff, trainers, and volunteers (where applicable).

  • Coordinate staff rotas and provide supervision and support.

  • Identify training and development needs within the team.

Essential

  • Experience managing a skills centre, training provision, events venue, or similar facility.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills.

  • Experience planning and delivering events or programmes.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.

  • Knowledge of health & safety and safeguarding requirements.


Desirable

  • Qualification in events management, education, community development, or a related field.

  • Experience working with employers, funders, or public sector partners.

  • Marketing or promotional experience.

  • Experience using booking systems or management software.
